How to track files received on a spreadsheet

Hello, I have 80 clients who send 2 files each, once a week, on a set day of the week. I have the data setup in a very simple Excel spreadsheet with columns for client name, day of the week. I do not have a separate column for file type (NE/QE) but could easily add.)
I need a way to record and track the files received by file type and date received/processed. I would want to filter by client name and by date received (I know how to filter and sort).
Is there an easy way to set up so I do not need to do a lot of retyping of client name and file type? It needs to be quick and easy so I am motivated to do it.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi ,

The first step would be to have a master list of the 80 clients , in a separate worksheet tab.

The next step is to use this master list as a Data Validation dropdown in your data entry column , so that you can select the client name from the dropdown list instead of having to type it every time.

A similar approach can be used for the file type.

Probably if you upload a sample file with enough data in it , more suggestions can be given.
