How to track breaks for employees : any suggestions?

hi Friends,

I have posted my struggle with creating interective reports here before too and your response was more than helpful. Thank a ton!
I am posting this new question i am brainstorming with.

Objective : this spreadsheet is meant to track employee's break time b/w work. it should track the time they take the break and the time they close it. it should show a consolidated daily and monthly report and a real time view of who is on break.

The sheet i have attached does all that in a crude way. i have put circular references to capture time and referenced other sheets to show summary and live report in "Time sheet" and "control panel".

but instead of staff selecting drop down of out/in from their respective sheets, i want the sheet to capture the time with a press of a button so its uneditable. there can be 2 buttons , pressing them will paste the current time onto the next successive cell. DOnt know how to do that.

any ideas how we do it more elegantly? Chandoo style

'click' name and name will be change OUT (blank=break) or IN (green =work?).
one row shows working times daily ...
So far You can see from 'Calc' daily IN/OUTs with values too.
this don't do everything that You wrote ...

thank you Vletm for your reply. honestly your version is beautiful but seemed little out of my current competence in excel . i desired exclusivity of visibility of the inputs users are making so one cant see other's and i wanted each input to be uneditable by the user once its made. Although I am curious to learn what you sent but is it possible to get a version 1 made along the lines of what i wanted? thank you for putting your time for this.

I just took away some of those Your named 'unwanted features'.
... and those 'names' can also protect.
This needs only 'click' to OUT and 'click' to IN.

About Your version
It needs more work for You.
You have to manually update many things ...
'my version' would have 'never-ending-calendar'.
How do You solve 'breaks' out of work shift?
... or do You have 24/7-system?

Here it works well...
There is only this view to use and see;
only names and information IN or OUT.
There can only click names.
