How to sort Column by the amount of words in each cell

Hi all,

I am a complete Excel novice. Please can you tell me how to sort a column by the amount of words in each cell. Each cell contains a different amount of words seprated by a space. I need to sort the list by the amount of words in this column in descending order rather than the amount of characters or text length.

Thanks

Johno

you can calculate the number of words in a cell using a formula like this: =len(a1)-len(substitute(a1," ",""))

Once you have word counts, simply sort the column.

You can also use array formulas to sort the whole thing dynamically. But as you say you are a novice, I wouldnt recommend them at this point.
