How to insert check boxes and add up the values?

I am trying to put in some check boxes into my spreadsheet. For two columns, when checked equals .5, when unchecked equals 0.

I want to be able to check/uncheck in the columns "From" and "To". I want it to be worth .5 when checked and 0 when unchecked. Then I need to be able to add up both columns for a total of checked cells.

Please help?

Thank you!

Hi ,

Where do you want the checkboxes ? On both the sheets , or only one of them ?

How many of them are to be used ?

I would like check boxes for each row under From and To... I think I might have figured it out now. I was able to work it all out in the first row. I would like to insert check boxes in each row of the column From and To. How do I insert multiple checkboxes without having to adjust the properties individually?

Hi ,

Once you have inserted the checkboxes , by inserting one checkbox in one cell , and then copying that cell down as many rows as you want , you can use a little VBA to set the Cell Link or the LinkedCell property to the desired cells.

I'm not understanding...

When I copy the check boxes down they don't check/uncheck individually.. And they all affect the same linked cell.. I need 1600 check boxes in each column, I can't adjust them all individually.

Another thing I have been trying instead of the check boxes is to simply use the font Wingdings2, using symbol 82. Looks like a checkbox. But I am not able to find the proper Function to make my symbol equal .5 in my totals cell...

Help!

Hi ,

I have already mentioned two things :

1. Do not copy the checkboxes ; copy the cells , since it is easier to copy one cell to 1600 other cells.

2. You will need to use some VBA to set the LinkedCell properties of all the 1600 checkboxes at one go. This will have to be done after the 1600 checkboxes have been inserted.

Why not save yourself all this bother by just using 0 / 1 or No / Yes ? After all , with Excel's autocomplete feature , all someone has to do is press one key , either N or Y.

Yeah but I need the No or Yes to be worth a Value of .5 or 0 and add up... Anyways, thanks for the help but I have found an alternative way to do it as it seems I cannot find the procedure anywhere.
