How to freeze multiple rows containing sub heading while filtering in the heading ?

Dear Chandoo,

I want to freeze multiple row in such a way that the selection of items from main row will give a display of item selected under all those rows freeze before as well as the main row.

If my question is difficult for your understanding. You can directly focus on the excel uploaded to see how the raw file and how the desired outcome needed in different sheets.

Welcome to the forum.

You can't/shouldn't have a single filter that covers multiple groups, if you still want those group headers. Either move the other groups to different columns, use Data - Group to combine sections, or select ALL the rows you want to see in the filter.

What i understood that you are telling to select the desired rows to select in the filter option for display. But, the file i am working is very big in size where you can not remember the item name in one shot to select. I want group head to be freezed. Is it impossible.

I am trying the alternatives.

Yes, what you have described, in current state, is impossible. You could make each section into a XL table, and then each table could have a set of filters. Or, create a helper column, and label all the rows you want to keep as something like "allHeaders" and then use other descriptors, and then filter on that (since it will be easier to remember to check "allHeaders".
