How to FormatCells --> Custom --> 000001 into 0.000001 or 000012 into 0.000012

When it comes to tolerances, numbers may have to be entered in millions.
Format Cells --> Custom --> 000000 is what i did.
If i enter the number 1 Excel displays 000001 in the cell F2
If i enter the number 12 Excel displays 000012 in cell F3
and so forth.
But my desired output is -
0.000001 or 0.000012
Can anybody please suggest how i can achieve this under
FormatCells --> Custom r thru an Excel formula.

Two ideas.
1. You input the numbers as you are doing now, and we use a formula to convert. Formula is a basic
=A2/1000000
Benefit is that you can see the number as you input, and the desired output.

2. Tell XL to insert the decimal places for you as you type. Click File(or Office button), then Excel options, Advanced
Check the box to automatically insert decimal places, change number to 6.

Now, XL will insert the decimals for you. Downside of this is that you'll probably want to turn off this setting after you are done, if you ever want to enter a regular number. :)

Hi,
You can use Format cells to do that . select cells then press ctr+1 then go to number tab then custom then enter "0."00000# then ok
