How to delete the duplicates with conditions

Sai Prasad

New Member
Hi,

I have a scan results which projects duplicate values as listed in the attachment.

Columns A (Machine Names) are listed with duplicates and Column D has the Application listed. In Column E (Purchase date) has pulled up one entry with a scan date and the other with a blank.

I am looking at Column A and D duplicate value which needs to be deleted with only one entry from Purchase date data reflecting in the file (or) how to delete duplicate values from A & D column where in the column E date should be retained.

Please help.

Regards,
Sai.

Hi Sai,

Please follow the below steps:
Select Data (Range A1:F23)
Go to Data >> Remove Duplicates
>> Check "My Data Has Headers" (if unchecked)
>> Uncheck Region, OS Installed, Purchase Date, Scan Date
Press OK

You are left with unique records based on Column A and D

Hope this is what you need.

@Ajesh In the given example if I am looking at Machine ABC123 with Application Microsoft Office Excel 2007 duplicate entries, I need the Purchase date row to be available and the duplicate row with no purchase date to be deleted.

Thats what it does. see enclosed file. Sheet2 comprise of result and relevant snapshots.

I was under impression that by doing remove duplicates it would only consider the fields which are selected, it wouldn't differentiate the row which has the install date or not!!......(The main objective was for the data with column E available and the duplicate deleted)
