How to create drop down windows for sorting?

How are the drop down menus created in the attached file allowing sorting without having to click: Editing, Sort & Filter, Custom Sort, etc.?

I have another Excel file I want to add "easy sort dropdown boxes" on the top of 9 columns for easy sorting for Excel users that are more novice than I am.

Thanks in advance.

As responded elsewhere - use Excel's Table ability - it is very useful for all manner of things including what you need - they use d to be referred to as Lists in earlier Excel, but now they go by Tables.

I think you'll find the concept of structured references to be useful as you create calculated fields in your tables ...

hmm. Why don't you leave header row in filter to sort and use any ability of filter dropdown options?!
