How to count # of appearances in other sheets?

Hello!

OK, in one sheet i have all the features list and the version it will be developed. For example:

Adding gmail support | 1.1
User can click on ... | 2.1

etc.

On another sheet in want to be able to present the # count of features for each version:

1.1 | 123
1.2 | 98

etc

i am sure its quiet simple, but how can i do that?

Not sure how your data sits..., the easiest way is to pull a pivot table.

Hey

ok i prepared a small example. notice there are 2 sheets, one is the features list and the dev cycle and the other sheet is to count how many items r for each dev cycle. as it is now it dosent do the counting automatically

=COUNTIF(Sheet1!B:B,A1)
