How to choose irregular intervals for x-axis in a chart?

I have a chart for the data as below -:

Period Value

Sep-11 0

Jun-12 150

Mar-13 200

Mar-14 800

Mar-15 1000


And I want the chart to exactly show the following major axis labels -:

Oct-11, mar-11,Sep-11,Mar-12,Sep-12,Mar-13 and so on.

So basically, I want to have irregular intervals for the x-axis.

Hi ,


There are two ways to interpret your question :


1. You want the text "Sep-11" , "Jun-12" ,... to appear as the X-axis labels


2. You want the dates September 2011 , June 2012 , March 2013 ,... to appear as the X-axis major divisions.


Which is the way you want to do it ?


If it is the former , just enter the labels as text.


If it is the latter , just enter them as dates , using the first of the month as the date i.e. enter them as 9/1/2011 , 6/1/2012 , 3/1/2013 ,... assuming an mm/dd/yyyy format.
