How to change the colour of 1-slice (variable-slice) in a 3-slice pie-chart, from green to red or r

Hello friends:
Typically, i have pie-charts to represent each major expense.
The Budgeted number is blue.
The Actuals have the colour amber.
The Variable has the colour green for Surplus and red if there's a Deficit.
My problem is how to keep the 'variable' colour dynamic.........
To give an example:
Assume the variable- slice in the advertising expense pie-chart is currently red.
Also assume the variable-slice in the sales promo expense pie-chart is currently green.
But an expense number that pertains to sales promo was 'wrongly' booked as advertising expense.
If this error is rectified, the variable-slice of advertising must change to green and the variable-slice of sales promo must change to red........dynamically.
Can this be done dynamically in Excel....????

Hi James ,

It can certainly be done ; please upload a sample file to make it easier.

Are you against VBA , or is a VBA-based solution OK with you ?

Firstly, i am sorry the question has repeated.
I am an aspiring VBA coder. So a VBA solution is cool.
If u need a sample file, i will have to create one.
Many thanks.
