How to call a COM add-in via VBA in excel

hello, I'm new to the world of excel macros. I have a third party com add-in installed in excel which helps import a file in excel in a specific format. I tried the record function in excel, but it wont record anything about running the add-in. What should be the code used to call this add-in via a macro?
