How do you autofill names in a subsequent sequence?

Hi, I am trying to find a faster way to autofill names in an employee hours report. Currently the hours report has the name of the employee with the first date in the period specified in the first row however, it does not show up beside subsequent dates below.

i.e.
Name Date Hours
John Doe March 9, 2016 6
March 10, 2016 7
John Doe Total 13
Kelly Trim March 9, 2016 8
March 10, 2016 9
Kelly Trim Total 17

Currently I am using the fill handle going name by name to populate each record with the employee name.

If anyone has an idea for speeding this up that would be great!!

Hi Analyst05, and welcome to forum. :awesome:

Yep, pretty easy to fill in the blanks.

  1. Select col A
  2. Hit Ctrl+g to bring up the Goto Dialogue
  3. Hit 'Special', select blanks
  4. Hit the '=' key, then hit up arrow, then Ctrl+Enter
  5. done.
At this point, can either copy-paste value the column if needed, or leave it as is.
