How do I set excel to stop at the last meaningful cell (not reaching column XFD)?

when I copy paste in empty cells, excel goes to the last column/row available in the sheet.
I want to avoid this waste of time
 
What cells are you copying? Where are you pasting them? What's making XL jump to the last cell? I would think the cursor would stay wherever you just pasted to.
