Help on Applying error bar to just one series

Hi, I am trying to apply error bar to just one data series but am not able to. Could you please help on how I can do this?

Select the series of interest. Make sure you only have the one series selected.
Go to Layout - Analysis, Error Bars. pick the one you want.

Ta da!

Example with error bars on Second series only.

Thanks. I tried it, but again I am making a mistake on selecting the series. How do I that?

When I click and select a single series, when I apply error bar, it gets into all series !

I'm not sure what more to say. Perhaps showing step by step?
Here's how it looks after selecting a series. Note the selection dots around each marker.


Then, w/o clicking anything else in sheet, go here (or similar error bar)



Chart should now have one series w/ error bars.


If still not working, can you at least post a picture of your final chart so we can see what you're doing?

Enclosing the file. What I am trying to do is a thermometer representation of a data point. I did see this on this website. I did try on a line graph, like you have shown. It works fine. thanks.

But I am not able to get this on the bar graph.

Hi ,

There is some confusion over what constitutes a series ; your file had all the points in one series. Only if you separate them into 3 series can you have only one error bar. At least that is what I think.
