yesterday i was trying to make a gantt chart i put a formula in one cell but when i drag the same formula in other cells what i saw that formula was not pasting correctly there was cell misplacement. i want to know that is there any other way to paste the formula or any i have to write the formula in each and every single cell.

Second thing i want to know that what is the meaning of (1,0,-1) in the match formula?

I wrote a formula like =IF(AND(F$8>=$D9, F$8<=$E9),"1","") and if I am dragging the same into the other cells it changing its cells like =IF(AND(T$8>=$D7, T$8<=$E7),"1","") instead of =IF(AND(T$8>=$D15, T$8<=$E15),"1","") pls suggest.

I am sure Excel is doing its job correctly ; our job is to tell Excel correctly what we want done.

If you can upload your workbook , and tell us what you want done , we can indicate the formula that should be used.

Just as a tip, remember that if you enter in an empty cell "=XXX(" (unquoted) and press the "fx" button at the left of the edition bar text box, you'll be prompted with the function wizard which shows every argument, gives a brief description of the function and by the bottom left link lets you access the built-in or online help. It works for any function.

pls find attached the gantt chart format.
and problem is that when i am writing a formula in a cell 1 it is ok but when dragging it to rest cell it is cell misplacing. kindly suggest that can i drag it or i have to write the formula in each cell.

Hi Narend....

use the formula in cell F7...and than first grab Horizontally and then vertically...

=IF(AND(F$6>=$D7,F$6<=$E7),"1","")

 
Thanks for your response but i want to know that if you did the same and got the result. I tried but got the same result as usual.

Hi Narend,

It is obvious that you did not do the same. I recommend you at least try to read SirJB7's post and then look at the differences between your formula and the one Somendra Misra gave you.

in the file that u have uploaded i found this formula....
=IF(AND(F6>=D7,F6<=E7),"1","").....which is not giving proper result...

Exactly i did not do the same what i found that i did not put a ($) in the formula but now it is working, i was not aware the importance of the $.
