Hi, I’m new to your site and have tried looking at all of the questions and answers that already exist. Unfortunately, I haven’t done anything with Excel for over five years and have forgotten everything but the most basic. I don’t even know enough to know how to ask my question, but you all seem to know everything, so here goes.
I have a spreadsheet counting paper use in our main copier. The spreadsheet has a column for the current paper use (Copy Count) where 436387, for instance, is manually typed into cell C61. Cell D61 (Sheets Used) has the formula =C61-C60. Users type the number of available reams of paper (Reams in Cabinet) into cell E61 (32.5) and Reams Loaded (.5) into cell F61. Cell H61 (Reams Remaining) calculates how many reams remain (=E61-F61). I have to add a column for staff use of paper and plan to use Column G for people to type this number manually.
My question is: Can I write a formula for Column H (Reams Remaining) to calculate based on information found in either Column F (Reams Loaded) or Column G (Staff Use) or on information found in both F and G?
I hope I've been clear. Thanks for any help you can give me.
