Formatting just one row of the data table in a chart

I have created a chart with 5 rows and multiple columns.

On the dialog window “Chart Options” under the tab “Data Table”, I ticked the box “Show data table” to display these rows and columns. So far so good.

Now, the boss wants to highlight just ONE of these rows.

“Format Data table” formats the whole thing.

Is it possible to format the data table selectively? Just one row for example.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Nope. You'd have to get creative and build your own data table and setup some way to highlight it.

Depending on your boss's requirements, perhaps you could make a semi-transparent rectangle and place it over the data table? ;)

You could make your own data table right below it then use conditional formatting on the table to highlight a row based on a certain criteria.

Thank you guys for your reply.

Luke,

By "semi-transparent rectangle" do yo mean a text field which could be placed on top of the graph object?

Montrey,

Do you mean not using the data table facility of the chart but rather placing the chart as an object in a sheet and then formatting the rows below it?

I was originally thinking of drawing just a regular recatangle and changing the formatting, but I like Montrey's idea of using conditional formatting.

To answer you 2nd question, yes, you would build the data table independent of the chart.
