Formating cell: short key Ctrl+1 not working in excel 2010

Dear Friends,
Hoping everybody alright here and in good spirit
I am having problem...
The CTRL+1 key doesn't work in new plain blank worksheet when i try to format cell, though by right clicking and selecting it and by this way, works

I don't know why keys must be working i have office 2010 activated version
If somebody knows please tell me..

Which "1" you are trying!
Would it be that any other software on your computer is overriding the same.

As I was also trying to resolve that 'and you said "which 1 then suddenly came to my mind that 1s are two, one on numeric key pad and one below functions keys on normal numeric keys, as I was previously pressing numeric keypad '1' but now i tried regular numeric keys & Bingo it solved.. Thanks for giving idea..
But still there is an other question why numeric keypad '1' is not working though it working fine in worksheet etc...any idea

As i know,
Microsoft designed shortcuts are having same combination to work on all systems over the world without any keyboard layout issue.

Have you turned on the num lock

yes I turned on the num lock but 1 is not working from numeric pad .....well thank you for overseeing ...but its fine on numeric key ..
I can live off with it if that's by default..
