Fill series in Merged Cells

Hi,

I have column few rows merged in column A.

I would like to enter the serial numbers in this column however fill series or dragging does not work. I need to enter the numbers manually.

Is there any work around for this.

The perfect workaround would be to take the merged cells out and start again. Merging cells is not advised in Excel. There are numberous articles about the pitfalls of this too often used practice. If it is not your data, then redesign it. If it is your data, take the merged cells out, fill the numbers down and you will be done and in a happier place.
