Dear...All,

First of all.. wish you a happy and colorful holi.

I have an strange problem, I have some excel files (around 6 files) with different names, we have 12 members in our team, now i just want to know the file access details like file name, duration (from which time to which time he has used), user name who accessed that file, date of access etc. The purpose behind is i have pasted all the original files in our network drive, but unfortunately someone has deleted some files but he doesn't accept his deletion. so now i want to create a log report so that i can retrive the details.

Can it possible to do this...

Any help highly appreciated

Hi, vijay.vizzu!

Depending on your network OS and how it is configured, you can ask IT guys or net admins to check the logfile. This won't bring your files back, but at least nobody could deny deletion.

About logging issue from within Excel let me see if I can send you something when I find a little idle time.

Regards!

Hi, vijay.vizzu!

Give a look at this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60558749/File%20access%20logs%20%28for%20vijay.vizzu%20at%20chandoo.org%29.xlsm

Journaling is performed in sheet "Log" password protected with "anonymous" (unquoted). VBA project protected in the same way.

If a user tries to quit the file without saving, it will be automatically saved. Otherwise requisite of used time couldn't be achieved. If this is not desirable, delete the procedure "Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose" in the code under "ThisWorkbook" section.

Regards!
