Excel to PPT

I don’t know weather this is the right forum to ask this ?, but as many people use both excel & PPT. I am asking this ? here

I have around 20 tables in excel in different tabs, the same tables have to be presented in PPT.

When I do a copy paste from excel to PPT the formatting is going for a toss & it takes nearly 2-3 hours to do the formatting.

If I link the table in the Excel to PPT, it is coming as an image & I can’t edit the image in PPT, again the formatting is changing .

Is there a way to copy paste the data without changes in the format or is it possible to automate the PPT with excel & still the tables in the PPT are editable.

Request you to solve my problem

when you paste into PowerPoint, I recommend doing Edit - Paste Special, and choosing either Bitmap or Enchanced Metafile.

Thanks for asking that question. I've had the same issue. I was quite excited to share the dynamic reports with radial buttons for my presentation, unfortunately the dynamic part isnt available. I tried Lukes suggestion, but that doesnt work either. It just takes you to the original excel document which for presentation purposes is messy and unprofessional.

I hope there is a good solution for this because it really is a great feature in excel.

Also to Luke's point, You can also paste special and then choose Paste Link radio button on the left of the dialog which will allow your picture to change when the spreadsheet formatting is changed

That sounds interesting Steve. Can you explain a little more?

paste special from the excel sheet to paste link radio button in PPT?

Tnx

Copy the range from excel (however you like)

Go to powerpoint slide.

On the Home Ribbon, select the arrow under PASTE and choose PASTE SPECIAL.

On the left hand side of the Paste Special dialog box you will see PASTE or PASTE LINK.

Choose Paste Link (this is what i mean by radio button) and then MICROSOFT OFFICE EXCEL 2003 Worksheet Object.

Then click OK.

Any changes in the spreadsheet for that range will now change on the PPT chart

Agreed ed what problem I am facing is, I want to edit the table (copied from Excel & Pasted in PPT) in PPT. This table is appearing as object & not allowing me to edit it. This there a way to edit this table in PPT itself.

Copy the range from excel (however you like)

Go to powerpoint slide.

On the Home Ribbon, select the arrow under PASTE and choose PASTE SPECIAL.

Select HTML Format, press OK.

You can now edit the table in powerpoint itself.

(This works smoothly on my PC, only I have to arrange the font size depending as per the presentation.)

Thanks, this makes the table editable, but it does not update the changes made in excel as it is not linked. I want the table to be linked to excel & edit the table in PPT.

If it is linked to excel, it will be updated through excel only or else what is the use in linking it with excel & manually updating it in powerpoint.

I dont think both ways are possible or even required.

Still lets see if some1 has a solution.
