Excel shows internal date instead of 'normal'date

I have one excel sheet which after entering the real date format (ie 15-9-2017) shows the internal date (42993).

I have copied the cell, showing the date, from a new workbook to the 'faulty' one. (Tried all kind of copy special).
I have converted the cells to give a date format (ctrl+1).
I have removed the table and created the table again.

All of the above did not resolve my issue or my question what is happening?
The dates showed the correct value. Suddenly it shows the internal date instead of the date format.

If I copy the cell(s) to a new workbook, it does show the dates.

I have been playing more with the format of the cell. And I cannot change it to any other option.
I have tried currency and percentage. What I do notice is that in the field where it shows the value, where you enter the formula, it shows what it should look.
The value (internal) date, does not change.

In another workbook, I noticed the dates were changed after I entered ctrl+t (what I have done in the 'faulty' workbook). So it appears to have something to do with tables and or changing the table.

There can be several cause for this. Without sample workbook. A bit hard to help you.

Try using Text to Column.

I found the cause; ctrl+t

It then show the dates as normal.. when I press ctrl+t again, it shows internal dates. Ctrl+t dates are gone again, ctrl+t and they are back.
I find it weird.

CTRL+T normally changes a range to a table and normally pressing it again does not do anything.
Are there macros involved with personalized shortcuts?
