Excel - Problem with pasting/deleting if autofilter on or hidden cells

Hi,

I have a problem with certain excel spreadsheets where if an autofilter is on or there are hidden rows when you highlight values either side of the hidden section and delete/paste it will paste/delete the hidden values as well. This does not happen all the time and is very annoying!! I know how to do it manually by going to select visible cells only but is there a way so that you don't have to do this every time??

Thanks!!

Are you using 2003 version of Excel? Because it happens to me as well but it was only certian files that do that. I think it is how the spreadsheet was set up when it was created. but when I work on a different file, copying across hidden rows and pasting elsewhere won't give me any trouble. I tried to find out why but couldn't find out the answer.

I have since switched to 2007 but it won't give you the same problem.

The only other way from what you are doing to circumvent is remove autofilter or remove hidden rows/columns.
