Excel formulas on conditional statements

Hi,

In cell A1 is drop down list of year period (I used from data validation) e.g. 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20

In cell A2 the output is single year

Here are the conditions:-
If A1=2015/16 then A2=2015
If A1=2016/17 then A2=2016
If A1=2017/18 then A2=2017
If A1=2018/19 then A2=2018
If A1=2019/20 then A2=2019

How to create formula containing multiple condition depending on what year period option you choose in cell A1 to get the single year in cell A2?
