Excel comments

Problem was result of comp crash - without good backup

Excel Comments are working great – but we lost an important facility.

==============================

Previous available facility =

left click on cell with Comment fixes Comment open - to allow edit Comment

==============================

Present normal Comments facilities =

1 on Review tab - Show all Comments button works with Ctrl + '6' to toggle all Comments on/off

2 hover over cell shows Comment temporarily

3 right click on cell - click Edit Comment on drop menu to edit

4 select cell - on Review tab click Edit Comment [or Shift + F2] to edit

5 click Previous/Next selects Comment fixes Comment open - allows edit

So desired facility replicates Previous/Next facility - on a cell selected by left click

Is there an Excel tweak to fix ?

Could there be a registry edit to fix ?

Tests done with single-sheet workbook

Windows 7 - MS Office 2007 [reinstalled] - Excel 2007 version 12

Hi Glanerch!

First of all welcome to Chandoo's website Excel forums. Thank you for your joining us and glad to have you here.

As a starting point I'd recommend you to read the three first green sticky topics at this forums main page. There you'll find general guidelines about how this site and community operates (introducing yourself, posting files, netiquette rules, and so on).

Among them you're prompted to perform searches within this site before posting, because maybe your question had been answered yet.

Feel free to play with different keywords so as to be led thru a wide variety of articles and posts, and if you don't find anything that solves your problem or guides you towards a solution, you'll always be welcome back here. Tell us what you've done, consider uploading a sample file as recommended, and somebody surely will read your post and help you.

And about your question...

* Go To VBA (Alt + F11)

* Go to Immediate Window (Ctrl + G)

* Write
Code:
? Application.DisplayCommentIndicator

I guess it will result [b]-1 (xlCommentIndicatorOnly)

if yes.. Please change this to 1[/b] (xlCommentAndIndicator) by..

Application.DisplayCommentIndicator = 1
in the same Window, or

Excel > File > Option > Advanced > Display > For Cell With Comments Show > Comments & Indicator..

Please confirm if its working.. :)

Regards,

Deb
