Excel changing fonts when assigning link to cell

When I attempt to assign a link (to a different cell), Excel automatically changes the font of the cell. Why is this? What does the FONT--have to do with the link to another cell? No, the font is NOT the same as the linked cell's font--so what's up? If EXCEL wants to "automatically" do some stuff--how about it "automatically" finishes the massive amount of data entry that I have to do? :p
 
I think the Hyperlink style can be made to change nothing:

I can't find a way to make that style apply, for example, ONLY underlining, leaving everything else as-is.
All future added hyperlinks won't change the style of that cell, previously created links seem to retain their old style.
