Excel 2007 Sharepoint Issue Syncing

I export datasheets from Sharepoint into Excel 2007 to build dashboards and to perform analysis. The datasheet on Sharepoint is updated daily by 70+ associates. I need the ability to simply open the dashboard and have it update based on syncing with the datasheet. However, I get 'A connection to the Sharepoint site could not be established. To synchronize or refresh your table, you must be able to connect to Sharepoint'. I am able to connect and, in fact, am still conneced at the time of the error. I could perform this function with ease in Excel 2003. Others with Excel 2007 are experiencing the same issue. My IT dept is no help, either.

I am hopeful some of you Excel gurus have experienced this and have figured out or discovered a fix. MS has been no help. Google searched have returned no fix. All fixes and service packs are installed.
