Embarrassed by bad colors...what is best practice for table formating?

I made a table like below, using orange and yellow.
My client was making fun of colors of my choice...:(

Is there any documentation or articles on Table formatting (colors & borders especially?)

I just want to make something that has:

-easy for the eye
-good balance
-clarity

I would appreciate if anyone could guide me to useful resources...

Thank you....:(

Hi ,

See if there is anything helpful in the following links :

However , my suggestion is , when ever you do a project for a client , they may be a customer , your boss , or even a colleague , first take their opinions / suggestions on what , according to them , would be a good color scheme ; some organizations have their standard color schemes which they would like to be followed ; it is always good to know about these beforehand.
