Does Excel work on Mac

Hi, Have a query. As I am planning to get a new computer, I was thinking of going in for the Mac mini and installing the 2011 Office for Mac. (I have a Sony Viao). Before I buy it I wanted to understand if I can use excel like I use it on windows. A lot of google searches are showing up where people are dissatisfied with excel on Mac. Just wanted to know if it is a good idea and if there are problems like slowing down the system etc.

Overall if people can share their experiences of using excel on a mac and advise accordingly.

Also will it support macros, VBA etc.

Thanks in advance

Good day soberoi

Welcome to the forum, please read the green sticky's they will help you in the use of the forum.

The latest version of Excel, which is Excel 2011, does have VBA and it runs on Macs.

Each version of Excel has some things unique to it. For example, in Excel for Mac you can run applescript commands, but you can't do it in Excel for Windows.

In Excel for Windows you can use Active-X controls, but you can't on the Mac.

The directory structure is different on Macs and PCs, so you have to be careful about syntax. Mac Excel does not support slicers or Pivot Charts (but does support pivot tables).
