Different years, same week

Hello all,

Here's my situation: I have team data to analyze for two years. This year's report is updated weekly - last year's report is used to compare and predict what will happen this year.

This data is displayed by week (date of ending Friday). Because the dates don't exactly match from year to year (ex. 2015-04-03 & 2016-04-01), is there any way to use a segment control that will automa

In this type of analysis, I usually roll it into weekly level for comparison.

Then analyze pattern within a week (i.e. compare Monday to Monday etc).

So compare Week#1 Monday of this year to Week#1 Monday from last year.

Other considerations:
  • To normalize your data, you may want to remove special dates/events
    • Such as Stat Holidays, marketing blitz, technical issue that caused down time etc.
  • If there is seasonality to your business (or data) that should be taken into consideration for predictive analysis

Thanks Chihiro for the answer.

I am already using weekly level for comparison, as that is all I have access to. I don't have any daily statistics, so I won't be able to compare patterns within the week.
