Departmental-wise Dashboard without VBA

Hello,

I am currently creating a dynamic dashboard.

I want to be able to see on a pivot table and on a chart, data visualized by Department-wise.

I want this without using VBA.

I have following columns in my data:

Budget head, Month, Commitment ID, Demand Number, Department, Initial Commitment Amount, Actual Expenditure.

I have to show Departmental wise data. User may select department as per their choice and view the information of that Dept only.

Thank you for your ideas and experience :)

Hi ,

I think the first step is to upload your data.

You want the user to be able to select a department from a list of departments

You want a pivot table

You want a chart

Given these requirements , you also need to clarify in which of them you want others to help you.

If it is a chart , do you want a pivot chart or a normal Excel chart ?

When you refer to a dynamic dashboard , is the selection of department the only dynamic representation , or are there other areas where you want a dynamic representation ?

After you upload a workbook with as many elements of the dashboard as you can implement , it will be easier for others to help out with the remaining elements.

Pls find attached sample data sheet.
Data is available in Sheet 1.
In Sheet 2, Users will select their Division from Drop Menu Box. Once Division is selected, Data available at Sheet 1 should appear.

Hi,

See the attached file, Changing pivot through In-cell drop down will not be a straight forward thing and would require VBA, but the same can be achieved through Pivot Filter. In the attached file Go through the Pivot and comment back, populate it with more data and try to see how the pivot is coming.

As far as charting is concerned you need to explain what you want to chart?

Regards,

Somendra Misra, Thank you very much. A bit of more help would be much appreciable. Isnt there any way like one you have sent me would not contain Pivot table while hovering or clicking the Selection button? The same might be done with Drop down menu? One more thing, is there any way like once Department is selected, a graph would appear to depict the data (as per my selection of variables) pertaining to that Dept. only?

Thank you
