Decision Matrix

I'd like to create a matrix that would allow a customer service rep to quickly "qualify" a customer for a specific benefit. In order to qualify for this benefit the customer has to meet three criteria:

1. Be a new customer (less than 90 days)

2. Have not ordered previously

3. if 1 and 2 are met, then there they have to meet one of 8 specific criteria. I have created a sheet and I have three columns with drop down boxes (via data validation) for the rep to select the specific situation for their caller in column A/B/C. After they choose A/B/C columns I am trying to format a cell that will reflect a red/green/yellow, so they have a quick visual representation if they can approve the benefit.

I can put together a conditional formula for each column, but thats not the best, I would love there to be one representation. For example: If a new customer, not ordered previously, and live in CA, then once I select all three criteria, an output cell turns green. Appreciate any tips or suggestions as to how I might go about this.

Sounds like conditional formatting might do the job.

How is the data laid out on the spreadsheet, what are the valid values?

Hi, caseykay68!

Give a look at this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/60558749/Decision%20Matrix%20%28for%20caseykay68%20at%20chandoo.org%29.xlsx

Maybe it's suitable for your job.

Thanks for the responses...I can't access the sample at work due to firewall but I will definitely check out when I get home. I appreciate the assistance.

Hi, casekay68!

Any other sharing service allowed? Google Docs, MS SkyDrive, ... Just advise.

SirJB7, thanks for following up, was finally able to check out the file. I hadn't thought to use the COUNTIF function, I think that might work. I'm going to play with it, I'll report back what I come up with.
