Databases

Hey, I have a database that I need to put into an excel format where people can just go in and click around, put current dates in and get the information they need from the database so it's all automatic...without actually using the database itself as it is very complicated. Can I do that with excel?

Thanks

bri,

Welcome to Chandoo_Org forums.

Yes, you may do this in multiple ways...

The easiest one would be (excel 2007)

1. Go to the Data Tab (on ribbon)

2. Click on From Access

3. Link to the database and the Table which you want people to view (in your case this would be a query to take parameters)

and then Get the data from Access to Excel...

Note: This will be a view only snapshot of data and to update any changes back to the access table code will be required.
