Data validation list heading

Hi gurus,

Can you please help me to find a way to give a header to an excel list?

cell A1 to be called 'Click Here' and should include a list that I can put using data validation.

Please please help as input message in data validation is not a great solution.

Thanks

Rana

You could either a) first put your message "Click here" in the cell and then add the data validation, b) Use a separate cell as your header, c) use a always visible comment, d) have the "header message" be included in the drop down options, but listed as the first choice.

If none of the above work, I'm not exactly sure what you were looking for (visually).

Hi Luke,

Thank you for helping me out here. Your 4th suggetion sounds more fit for purpose, but dont know how do I do that? Can you please help.

I though there will be some VBA code to default 'click Here' in a cell unless something is selected from the drop down menu.

Many thanks

Rana

Dear Ranaray,

You can follow the following logic.

1. Open Data validation dialog box

2. Select List (under allow)

3. Type in the source

Hi Muneer,

Thank you for your comment - I know how to add a list. My questions was how do I default the cell to show the first name in the list?

"3. Type in the source

How do I get it to display 'Click Here' in the cell. In your process it will only show me a drop down arrow and Click here will be part of the list. I want the cell to display click here.

Hope you getting what I am trying to say.

Thanks

Rana
