Can someone recommend a tool they use(e.g. macro, vba script, 3rd party tool) to clean and import excel spreadsheets? I download spreadsheets from mainframes to update my reporting tool each day. Invariably, I have to clean the data of erroneous characters and convert text to numbers.


Anyone have a tool? I import three spreadsheets, two from maximo and one from SAP.
 
I would record a macro of you doing the cleanup, and start from there. Probably need to generalize a few things in the macro, but then you should be able to run it every time. Try it on your own first, and if you need help, post the macro here along with maybe a sample workbook (upload workbook somewhere).
