Custom cell formating for String

Hi,

I learnt how to do custom cell formatting for number using the formula [color1];[color3];"Zero";test.
I have a requirement. I have two texts Pass and Fail. For Pass it should be green and for Fail it should be Red.
Is that achievable using cell formating or I should do it using conditional formatting only.
