Hi team, seeking help on replicating something like the graph on this page

I have been trying to do it with the data attached and cant for the life of me figure it out.
Approximate Start
80's Recession January 1981
90's Recession - July 1990
GFC December 2007
COVID February 2020

Something like this below is doable with your data.

Your data only goes to Nov 99, so it only contains (an equal number of months, coincidence?) the 80's and 90's recession data.

Make 4 columns for each category, add the theoretical start date in the row above (F->.J)

If you have Office 365, you'd have access to the dynamic array formulas.
Months = SEQUENCE(F2,,0,1)
Recessions = FILTER($C3:$C230,($B3:$B230>=G4)*($B3:$B230<H4),""), to enable drag to the right add tomorrows' date in the next column of the reference dates.

Then make your chart data, again 4 columns, normalize starting from zero, using a formula like =IFERROR(1-G6/G$6,NA())

Then you can make the chart and tweak the lay-out. Showing the axis low, interval set at 6.

Earlier versions of Excel need other formulas, but the logic is about the same.
