Control distance of data label position

I am using a bar graph and have selected the data labels to appear at the 'outside end'. However, I want to control the distance between the bar and the data label. Is it possible to do this? The vertical alignment option doesn't help much. Much appreciated.
 
Sort of. The trick is to create a 2nd dummy series and make it a stacked bar chart. The dummy series will then "float" to the right of the bars you care about. Have that series display the data labels you care about. Format the dummy series to no line, no fill. Now, by controlling the values of the dummy series, you can easily move the data labels.


I think it took more work to type all of that out than it actually takes to do. =P
