Conditional Formatting (CF) and Pivot Tables (PT)

I'm using MS Office Professional Plus. I'd like to invoke the Apply Rule to . . . option when CF a PT. But no matter how I try, I never get the option to CF based on

- Selected Cells

- All Cells showing "XXX" values

- All Cells showing "XXX" values for "YY"
