Comparing two columns

Can you think of a formula that would work for the following?

I have two columns. Each column contains a dollar amount. Some of the dollar amounts are the same, some of them are different. I want the ones that are different to appear in Red Type.

If G21 = F21 then G21 would remain black. But if G21 is greater than or less than F21, I want G21 to turn red.

Scottyg,

How would I use this to compare the values in the two columns?

125.00 - 125.00

200.00 - 200.00

175.00 - 150.00

225.00 - 225.00

so if comparing these two columns, the third entry down (150.00) would turn red because it is the only one that is different than column A.

Hi Lucy ,

You can do what Scott has suggested , as follows :

Select the range of data.

Click on Conditional Formatting , New Rule , Format only unique or duplicate values.

Select Unique from the dropdown box in the lower pane of the dialog box

Select the format you want to apply

OK.

Note that this will highlight differences only if they are in the same row ; thus if your above data is restructured as follows :

125.00 - 125.00

200.00 - 200.00

175.00 - 225.00

225.00 - 175.00

no cell in the range will be highlighted. Is this OK with you ?
