Hi All,
Please bare with me in explaining my issue.
I would like to either Conditionally Format or write a Macro (no experience) in changing the color of cells based on expiration years of specific items, and other criteria.
For example:
If I have apples, oranges, pears, and strawberries, listed in one column, and each have a hidden shelf life as to when they expire; I need the workbook to recognize or set up a formula/macro to change the color of the cell of the "year place on shelf" based on the length of shelf life. The "year placed on shelf" counts as Year 1.
The color format of the cells are based on how long each Type of Fruit lasts once placed on the shelf against the current. If oranges were placed on the shelf in 2016 and lasts for 2 years, then the oranges have 1 more year of shelf life and the cell should then be colored green. If apples were placed on the shelf in 2012 and lasts for 5 years, then the apples are set to expire this year, 2016; which will change the cell color to yellow.
I have zero experience writing macros, and I can't seem to come up with a set of conditional formatting rules to make the cells change color based on the criteria of the items having a specific shelf life to change the color of another cell.
GREEN = 1 or more years remain
YELLOW = Last year before expiration
RED = Expired
So my question to the community is, how would I go about changing the cell color of the "year placed on shelf" based on the hidden criteria that apples, oranges, etc. have an expiration date after a certain amount of time on the shelf?
Thanks in advance for any/all help/suggestions, and I welcome questions to clarify my issue.
