Camera Tool

gumbles

New Member
Hi there,

I am using the camera tool to display a group of cells from one workbook to another. The tool works great when its in the same workbook as ive used it many times before.

The problem im having is that when I have the camera tool referreing to another workbook it doesnt update. Even when you allow the automatic update.

Any thoughts?

I do not think Camera tool snap shots work across workbooks.., I just tried it and it does not work in my version of Excel (2013).

I recently found out about this hidden tool (2013) from one of Luke M's posts and noticed a 'bug' when taking a 'picture' of a chart.

I had 2 charts on one sheet. I select all of the cells the the 2 charts 'sit on' and placed the 'picture' on a new sheet (same workbook). the image itself looks perfectly fine but when i tried printing the sheet, the right side of each chart was cut off. i tried resizing things a bit, increased my margins, tried all kinds of things but nothing seemed to work.

any ideas?

Good day gumbles

Used the camera tool to take a snap shot and paste in to new sheet same work book, updated with no problems.

Pasted the camera shot in to a new work book updated with no problem.

Closed new camera work book and then changed data in original camera area, opened up new work book and data had been updated.

Closed camera work book, altered the original data and closed original work book, opened camera work book and data had not be up dated, so both books need to be open.

Using 2013

Limitations of Excel’s Camera Tool

1. The image doesn’t stay sharp when you reduce it significantly.

2. The camera images don’t print well, so it’s really only ideal for viewing on

screen.
