Calculating Hourly rate

Hi All

I would like to know the formula for calculating hourly rate for given hours.


For Example : I have total 30 hours on A1 and on B2 I need Total salary based on below conditions

From 30 hours for every 8 hours ( need to calculate ) hourly rate.
Total hours should be always divide by 8 and calculate the hourly rate.

First 8 hours ( $ 10.00)
Second 8 hours ( $. 20.00)
Third 8 Hours ( $ 25.00)

  1. How is your data set up?
  2. Is $10 going to be the increment for the total of 8 hrs or is it going to be an hourly increment?
  3. Is there any info for base salary , i.e the salary for the first 30 hrs?

-- Its an hourly increment. Every there will be increment unto 8 hours and Next 8 hours there will be another increment in hourly rate.

there is no base salary for first 30 hours.

for Example : If I work total 30 hours
First 8 hours ( = 8* $10)
Second 8 hours ( = 8 * $15)
Third 8 hours ( = 8* $20)
Fourth 8 hours ( Total hours - Hours left ) ) i.e ( 6* $25)

=sum (First hours +second hours +thrid hours +Fourth hour)

It should calculate on total hours,,, not by cell wise.....
if all the cells total say : 20 hours then it should calcualte as per the conditions

I am really not sure what you are after. If you want the dollars to be calculated for each individual I have done in sheet 1 using helper columns . If this is not what you are looking for , upload a exact replica of your original file and clearly specify what you really want if possible give your expected outcome.

Sorry for giving trouble,,, i have come with this formula : =MIN(8,SUM(A1:A4))*25 + MAX(0,SUM(A1:A4) - 8) * 35
