Calculating golf handicap Hole by Hole per player

Hello I am trying to create an excel sheet for my golf league and have calculated the handicap per nine holes but i want to be able to type in the actual scores in the worksheet and have it calculate their score hole by hole per each individuals handicap depending on the holes handicap as well. Is there anyone that knows a formula to get that started I have uploaded my basic worksheet with the numbers so you can get an idea of what I'm trying to do . Please help.
Thank you.

Hi Welker ,

Can you explain how to derive the net scores ( the values in row 6 ) from the Actual Scores ( the values in row 5 ) , the Player Handicap ( the value in cell B5 ) and the Hole Handicaps ( the values in row 3 ) ?

Narayan

Well first you have to look and see who has the highest handicap between the two players which are indicated in column B, which in this case would be Jordan. Jordan's handicap is a total of four more than Justins so that means that Justins actual scores are going to stay the same but since jordan has four more total on the handicap total he will subtract tract one from the actual total lines on the four lowest handicap totals in row three. Which would be how i calculated the totals in my head on the correct answer rows.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Hi Welker ,

It certainly helps ; but it also raises a few more questions.

All your information is based on the data you have given ; the general logic is still not clear. Can you explain what will happen in the following situations ?

1. Are you subtracting 1 from each of the gross hole scores ( in row 8 ) corresponding to the 4 lowest hole handicaps ( in row 3 ) , because the difference between the two player handicaps ( in cells B5 and B8 ) is 4 ?

Suppose the difference had been 6 , would we subtract 1 from each of the gross hole scores ( in row 8 ) corresponding to the 6 lowest hole handicaps ( in row 3 ) ?

2. Suppose there are two or more identical hole handicaps ; would this make any difference ?

3. If the two player handicaps are equal , would the net scores of both players be the same as their gross scores ?

Hi Narayan,

I have attached another spreadsheet that give a few more scenarios that might help some more but i will try to answer you questions as well.

1. Yes i am subtracting 1 from each of the gross hole scores ( in row 8 ) corresponding to the 4 lowest hole handicaps ( in row 3 ) , because the difference between the two player handicaps ( in cells B5 and B8 ) is 4 ?

2. there would never be two or more holes with the same handicap

3. Yes if two players handicaps are equal the net scores of both players would be the same as their gross scores.

I hope the new spreadsheet helps and answering the questions.

Thank you again.

Welker
