Auto run macro to keep the file shared after closing

Hi,

i have a password protected shared file where many users update their part. Most often some one always forgot to share the file and put the password back before closing the file.when it is opened next time, then file is locked and message only says it is opened by another user and it is hard to find who the other user is. is it possible to have a auto run macro which puts the password back and share the file when it is closed. Thanks in advance for your help.

Why is someone turning the password off and/or unsharing the workbook? In XL, a shared workbook can be opened by multiple users at the same time with all edits being reconciled as the workbook is saved (or at preset times). Is the password to open the file, write to the file, or is it just worksheet protection?

some of the cells are protected and cant be written over by everybody.. that is why it is password protected. more than one person has the password. if some one forgets to enter the pass word and share the file back.. then blame game starts and it is difficult to know who did it. hope this explains

Before you protect the workbook, can you use the "Allow users to edit ranges" option? That way you could set things up so that certain people can go ahead and write to the protected cells even after you protect the sheet.

I am just trying to cover up that people forget to do the right thing. if there is auto run macro which makes the sheet shared before closing.. that will be a great help
