Auto population of Data

I have to depend a lot on the reports send by people to me. They generally get the employee codes and names wrong (as in misspell it). So want to them to work in a sheet given by me. Where in if they insert the employee code the name and the designation would pop up in the right side. I can then insert the other details in the other columns.

You want a sheet in which only correct Empolyee Codes should have been entered. If wrong code is entered the sheet should not validate it?? Please confirm.

Yes, like the code should be entered and the name and designation should auto populate in the right cells.

You can insert a sheet (hidden) with Code, Names & Designation, then do a simple =isblank(code,"",Vlookup(code,list,1,0)), you can lock the sheets with these (formula) cells hidden.

Dear Indian,no offence, but i can do that with a combination of different formulas but is there any other way of doing it since i would have to apply the formula in 2000 rows which would slow down the sheet.

2000 VLOOKUP formula is no big deal unless you are having some heavy calculations going on the same sheet. Do you have any complex formulas in the sheet concerned?

Not really, just additions and subtractions,
