Attendance Sheet

Dear Chandoo,
Need your kind help to fix my problem in the attached attendance sheet. As per our office necessity I need D/O (Day off) is to be type instead of "P" in the cell on any day of the week because we have employees some of who are having weekend on different days instead of Sunday's. I have tried but it is reducing number of days in "P" column of total attendance which I don't want it. I will appreciate your help.

Not sure what exactly you need. But I understood it as you need "D/O" as well as "P" counted in column AI.
=COUNTIF(D7:AH7,"*"&AI$6&"*")+COUNTIF(D7:AH7,"*D/O*")
