Any advantage to converting raw data to table before creating pivot table?

Is there an advantage to converting original raw data to a table before creating a pivot table? Are there any reasons not to?

Most definitely, takes a second to do but improves data handling and pivot tables, you can search the table very easily and with the cursor in the last cell just hit tab to start a new row for more data and then just refresh the pivot for new data to be imported in to the pivot.
