I have a data in 2 column 1column = Region and 2nd column = country.

eg: Region = ANZ, ANZ, ANZ, ANZ,GC,ANZ,GC...

country = AU, NZ,IN,PAK,CN ,AU,NZ....

when I given a condition like below to pick only AU and NZ in ANZ region it works perfectly.

Region Country

ANZ AU

ANZ NZ

I need reverse of the same condition, ie., I want to filter only ANZ region but it should not contain AU, NZ country. if I mention

Region Country

ANZ <>AU

ANZ <>NZ

It shoudl filter only ANZ region and country like IN,CN,PAK et.,

could you please help me..

Thanks

Vinod.

I believe you are not using Excel 2007 or later as I am trying this in 2007 and it is working fine!

Hi PSG,

I am using 2007 only, its not working. But I got the solution condition should be :

ANZ <>AU <>NZ

should not write below,

Thanks

VInod.

Just to explain for future readers...

THe criteria you write on one row can be interpreted as AND type arguements, where as each row is a seperate OR. Thus, your original layout was saying "Doesn't equal AU or doesn't equal NZ". This, of course, actually includes everything as if it's AU, it doesn't equal NZ, and thus would qualify. Hope that helps someone.

@Vinu: I am confused, why you used advance filter when you can acheive the same result using Filter option!

BTW this is good thing to learn, Thank Luke for the input. :)
